Pak Paisa is founded to address a critical gap in the financial services landscape, left unattended by the traditional banking institutions. While conventional banks have historically prioritized wealth management and services for high-net-worth individuals, there remains a vast, underserved market segment—the economically marginalized. These communities have limited access to even the most basic financial services, often due to regulatory barriers and a strong reliance on cash-based transactions.
A recent report from the State Bank of Pakistan highlights the progress made, with 177 million bank accounts now active, bringing 60% of the adult population—including 43% women— into the formal banking system. This expansion, driven largely by digital banking and fintech innovations, is a positive step forward. However, financial inclusion is about more than just account access.
Pak Paisa recognizes that true financial inclusion involves addressing the broader financial needs of underserved populations. While access to deposit accounts is fundamental, these accounts often function as mere transaction tools for low-income individuals, rather than vehicles for savings, investment, or wealth-building. Pak Paisa is focused on the credit aspect of financial inclusion, targeting the most pressing financial needs of the marginalized. Our goal is to provide small, affordable loans to underserved individuals, offering them opportunities for financial growth and stability.
In addition to this, Pak Paisa is committed to enhancing financial literacy as a core component of our service offering. We aim to empower customers—many of whom are unfamiliar with formal banking systems—by equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make informed financial decisions. Through a combination of educational initiatives, technology, and on the ground ambassadors, we are working to address the financial literacy gap, helping our customers choose financial products and services that best meet their needs.
